Dear Catskill Families
I hope all of you were able to meet with your child’s teacher during conference week. It’s important to be active in your child’s education. I encourage you to be vigilant in monitoring your child’s assignments/grades through Schoology.
For those that have chosen to have your child return to in-person learning, we are excited about the progress that we have made with our Responsible Return Plan. We look forward to welcoming your child back to school. While there have been struggles, I feel confident that we are on a path toward a greater sense of normalcy.
For those that will remain on distance learning, remember to maintain a consistent school routine. If your child is having trouble with their device, please contact the school immediately so they can continue with their learning.
I want to wish everyone a very happy and restful upcoming Spring Break! I encourage all of our students, teachers, and families to use this break time as a time to relax and enjoy their days off from school.
Stay positive. We are all in this together and we will emerge from this stronger than before.
Dear Catskill Families,
I hope this finds all of you safe and healthy. When we hear that schools are closed, that’s not entirely true. Our school buildings may be closed but our teachers, staff, and students have been working hard in their virtual classroom. It took time to adjust to online learning but all stakeholders are doing their best to continue with your child’s education. Consistent attendance while distance learning is a must.
As you follow the news, you are aware that reopening of schools has been highly discussed. Superintendent Buetner has weekly updates on Monday mornings on our LAUSD website to discuss the progress of returning to school.
February marks the beginning of Black History Month. Throughout the month students will engage in lessons and activities to acknowledge the contributions of Black Lives in America. We hope these lessons and activities will give our students opportunities to explore their role as a social justice agent in the work towards justice, equality and fairness.
As we approach our 100th day of school, I feel confident that we are on a path toward a greater sense of normalcy. I would like to thank our students, parents, community members, and staff for all of their support during these challenging times. As we continue to move forward, I encourage parents to be vigilant in monitoring their child’s academic progress as well as their social emotional health.
I want to reiterate my gratitude for your continued support and wish you and your family good health and good spirits.

Dear Catskill Avenue School Families,
I hope all of you were able to attend your child’s parent conference. Parents and teachers working together make successful students. I am very fortunate to work with such a professional and hardworking staff. The teachers are working tirelessly to develop on-line lessons for your children.
Remember, your child’s daily attendance is very important for their success.

As we end 2020, I would like to thank you for your commitment to Catskill and to the belief in public school education. The success we have experienced since the opening of school with distance learning is greatly due to parents and families like yours.
I wish you a restful winter break and hope you enjoy this time with your family.
For the New Year, I wish you good health, hope, and happiness.
Dear Catskill Families,
We had an amazing spirit week as our students showcased their Red Ribbon pride and their Halloween costumes. It’s hard to believe that we are already in November and soon the winter holidays will be here.
Through my virtual walkthroughs, we had another fantastic week of distance learning. Please make sure that your child is attending school daily via zoom. Our teachers are working hard on lessons to engage your child.
Without the ability to hold on campus fundraisers at this time, we have switched to a virtual Scholastic Bookfair. The fair begins November 9th to the 22nd. Please visit our school website and Classdojo for the links. The funds raised will help buy more books for our school library.
Parent Conferences-This is a wonderful opportunity for you to check on your child’s progress. Learn more about what is expected at his/her grade level . If you can not make your scheduled appointment, please call to reschedule.
We wish you and your loved ones a wonderful time together during Thanksgiving. This is a time for us to reflect on all of the blessings we have here in our Catskill community. We are thankful for so many boys and girls, our supporting parents, extended family members, and neighbors who help make Catskill a school where children develop and prepare for their futures as our community and world leaders.
Please remember we are here to support you. If you need any assistance, please call school.
We are stronger together, than we are alone.
