Catskill Avenue's Peacebuilders
About Peacebuilders
Our Peace Builder Program is a conflict resolution and violence prevention program made up of a select group of 5th graders who are dedicated to making the Catskill community safer for its students. Those 5th graders who are interested in being a Peace Builder must have a recommendation by their teacher, submit an application, and participate in an interviewing process. Peace Builders are expected to be role models for the school by keeping up their grades and attendance, as well as following the school rules and encouraging others. They serve as peer mediators who help other students to work out disagreements before they can escalate and conduct classroom and school-wide presentations that teach healthy social skills to younger students.
