WHAT MAKES CATSKILL AVE. ELEMENTARY SPECIAL?

SCHOOL HISTORY
A part of the Los Angeles Unified School District, Catskill Avenue Elementary School was established on July 1, 1948, and has been serving the Carson community for 71 years. Over these seven decades, we have built trust, relationships, and mutual respect with generations of families. Our talented, fully credentialed teachers have 17-30+ years of teaching experiences, many of whom hold Master's Degrees, National Board Certification, and Spanish Bilingual Certification.
SKILLED READERS, MATHEMATICIANS, SCIENTISTS, AND MUCH MORE
In 2020, Catskill Avenue Elementary achieved remarkable distinctions. Catskill is recognized as California Distinguished Schools for the strong achievement in students in Grades 3 through 5 who demonstrate a Proficient and Advanced performance on the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CASPP and also known as SBAC). Our dedicated students and teachers are driven to work hard and grow in the areas of English Language Arts, Mathematics and Science, while also embracing learning across the academic disciplines. In addition, Catskill is one of 278 schools being recognized in this year's Top Los Angeles County Public Schools report, created in partnership with the University of Southern California Sol Price Center for Social Innovation and Rossier School of Education Center for Education Policy, Equity and Governance. Catskill Ave. Elementary has a robust afterschool co-ed softball and co-ed football tradition. Our afterschool program's co-ed softball team and co-ed football team have repeatedly earned highest place distinction in LAUSD's Districtwide Beyond the Bell Tournaments.
21st CENTURY LEADERS IN EDUCATION
We are a School for Advanced Studies, focusing on STEAM and Makerspace. Our students have daily access to a variety of technology, including Chromebooks, a computer lab, and iPads. We also offer the Dual Language Spanish Program for Kindergarten and 1st Grade.
WE ARE A COMMUNITY SCHOOL
